Remote Working | Everyone’s Desire and Corporate’s Enemy

During the pandemic, many workers discovered one thing: remote working is the best. We avoid traffic, we don’t waste money on transportation and our lifestyle is significantly cheaper. But, it seems the corporate world is not a friend of remote working.

Let’s explain what remote working is and why corporations don’t like it.

What is remote working?

As the name suggests, this is working for a company (or a client) remotely. This means that a task, a project, or even the management of a campaign, can be done completely remotely.

It is an excellent alternative to create a personal-work balance for employees. A professional in one area can offer technical services remotely, either from home, from a coworking space, from a library, or even from abroad.

In this market model, it is the best way to maintain a balance between a person’s emotional and professional needs, while being able to produce for a company.

Benefits of remote working

The clearest benefit is being able to work from home. Even during the COVID-19 lockdown, it was statistically proven that performance and productivity went up thanks to remote working.

But there are many more. Among the main benefits of remote working are the following:

  • Increased flexibility for managing work-life balance.
  • Reduced commute time and associated costs.
  • Access to a broader talent pool.
  • Enhanced productivity in a personalized environment.
  • Lower overhead for businesses.
  • Ability to create a customized workspace.
  • Opportunity to work from any location.
  • Improved employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Better accommodation of diverse work styles.
  • Fewer office distractions and interruptions.
  • Decreased carbon footprint from reduced commuting.
  • Flexibility in scheduling work hours.

Complains about it from corporate

Although it is more than proven that remote working is very beneficial and attractive, the corporate world does not see it that way. One of the biggest impacts highlighted by many companies is the negative impact of work culture. That is, this cycle of working in a corporation for years and attending from Monday to Friday is no longer something that workers want. As a consequence, the way of working is also changing.

Even figures like Elon Musk define it as ‘phoning it in’. In other words, remote workers don’t actually work, according to his comments.

Claims by senior corporate executives to bring workers back to the office are just an attempt to take benefits away from employees and give them more face-to-face control over workflows. But despite the proven benefits and attractiveness of remote working, the corporate world does not see it that way.

Our opinion at RPB Marketing about remote working?

RPB Marketing is a platform that offers content marketing services in Latin America remotely. All the projects that come here are done remotely. Therefore, remote working is part of our philosophy.

We don’t believe that there is a real contribution to working in person. Precisely, in a world like digital marketing, where all actions and results are seen behind a screen, it is an example enough that a face-to-face format is not needed to guarantee results.

On the contrary, to ensure productivity and efficiency, clear and direct means of communication are mandatory. Complete briefings, good interactions between professionals, and fair and clear working conditions guarantee success behind every project.
